Biography

After many years trailing round after her husband Ian Adele decided it was time for her to move into the driving seat in 2021. Having done a Hill climb school at Shelsley Walsh see you then undertook her first year of competition in the BARC speech championship in which she came 3rd. When the NHSC championship started, Adele showed her skill behind the wheel to win Innes Ireland memorial trophy and then winning the PB cup the following year.

Away from speed events Adele also competes in the family Mini Cooper S in the HSCC swinging 70s race series and gained her national race license in her first year of competition. She is a proud member of the WMRAC “Dog House Owners Club” and a trustee of the Ireland Motorsports CIC. Adele is also the NHSC safeguarding officer with MSUK.

Specification

Engine: 1380cc A Series engine, Rally Sprint Camshaft, running on Weber 45DCOE with Maniflow manifolds, built and tuned by Annings Race & Restoration in Kent, Engine output 136bhp @ 7,900 rpm and 106lbs/ft torque

Gearbox: 4 Speed Downton straight cut gears and straight cut MED drop gears, Quaife ATB differential and 3.88 final drive

Wheels: Minilite alloy 5J 10” wheels with Avon CR6ZZ tyres

Bodywork: Original steel body with fibreglass bonnet and boot, Group 2 arches, Safety Devices roll cage adapted by Owens Fabrication, safety glass windows and laminated screen

Other: Running at Goodridge hoses for fuel, oil and brake lines, Owens Fabrication safety 55 litre race tank and facet fuel pump, all interior trim in place with Corbeau race seat

Car History

Registered: 1st August 1975, sold by Henly’s garage Bournemouth Purchased by the family in 1978 used occasionally for road rallies in standard trim, then modified in 1980 when the family rally car needed re-shelling, all Cooper S running gear transplanted and modified and tuned by Steve Harris Engineering. Was Minilite advert car in 2000 and then rollcage fitted and major tuning over last 7 years.

Competition History

Used as a competition car since 1978 competing in road & tarmac rallies, Hillclimb and Sprints by the family and latterly circuit racing with the HSCC by Adele. Rauno Aaltonen and Stig Blomqvist have both competed in the car recently
